To commemorate the closing of Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light, the Spartanburg Philharmonic commissioned a short film by Jonathan Ade with live music by Peter. B Kay that was premiered at the "Blue Mountain Blend" concert in March 2017.

The City of Spartanburg was selected in as one of four cities to participate as part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, a new program to support temporary public art projects that celebrate creativity, enhance urban identity, encourage public-private partnerships, and drive economic development. With the goal of improving police-community relations and creating safer, more vibrant public spaces, the city of Spartanburg, SC worked with artist Erwin Redl on the project titled, Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light.

Redl collaborated with the City’s police and fire departments, along with neighborhood associations, to design and develop engaging light and media art installations that touched 10 neighborhoods across the City from October 4, 2016 – April 30, 2017.

Opening on National Night Out, an annual event that promotes crime prevention efforts, police-community partnership, and neighborhood camaraderie, the project also showcased many local musicians including the music of Peter B. Kay (Circumpliance) and a presentation by Treefalls: New Music.
